Rocker duo Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz are selling Ashlee’s Beverly Hills mansion, Life & Style reports.

The couple wants a more child-friendly home for Bronx, their 11-month-old son, a source told the magazine.

“The house is built into the side of a giant hill and it doesn’t really have any yard. Now that Bronx is getting older, they realized that really isn’t a child-friendly house.”

“They are going to sell this house and look for something that will be better suited to young children.”

The 5,896-square-foot home has four floors, four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a media room, gym, swimming pool and a two-story guesthouse. Simpson reportedly bought the home in January 2007 for $4.5 million.

Fans wanting to watch the red carpet for the official Los Angeles premiere of Michael Jackson’s This Is It can catch it live via webcast at 4:30 p.m. today.

The webcast will be streamed at www.ThisIsIt-Movie.com and www.crackle.com and viewers will be able to comment and discuss the event during the live coverage. The webcast will be streamed in the U.S. and around the world.

Some of those planning to hit today’s red carpet include Adam Lambert, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Ashley Tisdale, Berry Gordy, Mike Tyson, Neil Patrick Harris, Ola Ray (Thriller), P. Diddy, Paula Abdul, Paris Hilton, Reverand Al Sharpton, Smokey Robinson and Snoop Dogg, among many others.

This Is It has been a hot ticket, selling out shows all over the world through early online sales. The film, directed by Kenny Ortega, is culled together from footage shot during rehearsals for what was to be Jackson’s last concert tour at London’s O2 Arena. Ortega was the creative partner and director of the stage show. The King of Pop died June 25 at the age of 50.

Covering the months from March through June, 2009, fans will get a chance to go behind the scenes of Jackson’s show as he developed, created and rehearsed for his sold-out concerts. It is the last documentation of the notoriously meticulous performer.

The film opens worldwide Wednesday.

EDIT: Ashlee did NOT attend the event.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz just released a statement to E! News about her departure from Melrose Place, saying, “Having the chance to play Violet on Melrose Place has been a thrill. Although I always knew her story would come to a final, insanely unpredictable end, playing a creepy, unstable character was something I always wanted to do, so I jumped at the chance. Thanks to the CW and the entire cast and crew of Melrose Place for allowing me this opportunity!”

Spoiler alert: The producers of Melrose Place are spoiling you.

While such surprising cast changes are usually held under iron-clad lock and key, the CW has confirmed that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Colin Egglesfield will be let go from the cast of Melrose Place in January. In their place, we’ll get some new characters.

So why are Ashlee (Violet) and Colin (Auggie) getting the boot?

According to the show’s producers, it was always part of the plan. Executive producer Todd Slavkin told EW: “We always knew that this murder mystery would end in episode 12…And once that murder mystery was solved, [Ashlee] would go on her way.”

Many of you have already written in to ask: Is that true? Or did producers decide on the casting change more recently?

As for what lies ahead on the show, this reveal by producers certainly seems like a big tell, given that we’ve reported there will be an upcoming major character death, and that it’s tied to the big mystery of Sydney’s murder. It’s surprising that producers would want to go on record to kill the surprise of Ashlee and Colin’s exits, but a CW insider tells me that the powers that be “wanted to get it out of the way.”

 this is so sad poor Ashlee we hope she return to music though nevertheless we are still gonna support Ashlee 100%

Score one for the vampire people! (And the incredibly good-looking West Hollywood-living people?) CW just picked up a full season of the breakout freshman hit The Vampire Diaries, and the network has also ordered five more episodes of Melrose Place. Why did Vampire Diaries get a full season while Melrose Place didn’t? Here’s what we’re hearing…

Diaries has been an unqualified hit for the CW—it’s easily the network’s top show. Melrose’s ratings, meanwhile, are just marginally ahead of already canceled The Beautiful Life. In fact, a repeat of the canceled CW series The Game that aired on BET the other night beat out an original episode of Melrose Place. Sad but true.

So why keep Melrose on at all? Well, Melrose comes with endless publicity in the form of returning original MP stars like, oh, Heather Locklear, and insiders remain enthusiastic about the production quality and big upcoming storylines like a major character death and backstory reveals for fan faves like Katie Cassidy’s Ella.

Now, help us answer a not-so-burning question: Which middle-of-the-road Melrose Place character is most expendable? We’re pondering this upcoming character death, and we’re trying to figure out who you could stand to lose. Katie Cassidy’s Ella Sims is excluded, because she’s clearly the show’s breakout star, and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz’s Violet is also off the list, because she’s extremely crazy and no one likes her, but between the other regulars, Michael Rady, Jessica Lucas, Stephanie Jacobsen, Shaun Sipos and Colin Egglesfield, who should be safe, and who is a good candidate for a highly promotable sweeps-month killing-off?
