Ashlee Simpson getting music itch

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The 25-year-old singer and actress – who has been playing troubled Violet Foster in Melrose Place – told how she wants to start work on a new album.

Ashlee revealed: “I’m going to start writing again for a fourth album. At the moment it’s been a little bizarre but I’m definitely going to start to write again because I’m getting that it

The former reality TV star – who is younger sister of Jessica Simpson and married to rocker Pete Wentz, with whome she has 15-month-old son Bronx Mowgli – revealed she is inspired by Joan Jett and Chrissie Hynde, but says Pete’s band and record label are influencing what she listens to at the moment.

Ashlee will be appearing in Melrose Place on Fiver, but her character has since been axed from the show in the US.

This is not the end of her acting career though, as Ashlee is looking for different roles.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Last Word Outtakes

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz stands up to the Last Word challenge in the OK! on newsstands now titled “Ali and Jake’s Secret Reunion.”

Find out what you won’t read in the magazine such as the story behind her curious nickname and her fast-food vice.

Last time you felt excited?
It’s exciting being here today to launch Hershey’s Pieces Candies. This is a fun event. Lots of chocolate everywhere. It’s always nice to see fans. It was a good morning.

Last time you felt smart?
I think every time you do a show, you’re definitely ‘on,’ and it’s a journey. I’ve been doing Chicago, and it’s eight shows a week. It’s such a journey – every show. You’re definitely “on.”

Last time you indulged?
Oh gosh. I always eat. I’m definitely a chocolate girl. I like chocolate. I’ve got these Pieces in my dressing room at the theater, so I definitely snack on those all day. Um, I had Taco Bell last night. [cackles] I got a Mexican Pizza. On my way home, I was like ‘I’ve gotta go home from the theater, get Taco Bell and go to bed.’

Last time someone called you a nickname?
My friend Nicole called me Smashley. Everybody always calls me Smashley or Smashed. My friends have always called me that. [laughs]

Last Time I Laughed
This morning — at Bronx, my son. He’s always a little out of it when he wakes up and it’s cute. He’s silly.

Last Game I Played
Oh, gosh. I play pranks all the time — and little games. My friends and I play games with each other. We just joke around.

Last Date Night
Our date nights are usually at home. Pete’s always doing something romantic [laughs]. We cook for each other, chill, watch TV.

Last Time I Felt Totally Relaxed
I guess last night, when I was in bed, snuggling with my husband [laughs].

Last Time I Felt Envious
My mom just had her birthday, and they went to Napa Valley, and I wished I was there.

Last Time I Saw Jessica
When she was here in New York last. It was a week-and-a-half ago. She comes to my shows. We eat dinner, hang out, catch up, laugh.

Last Helpful Advice We Gave Each Other
There’s not one personal thing. We’re always there for each other, so whenever one’s in need, we always call. Jessica and I are really close.

Last time you felt guilty?
I don’t know. What would I feel guilty for? I don’t know. Eating too many Pieces candy? That doesn’t really make me feel guilty though. [laughs]

Last time you worked out?
The show last night. [cackles] We’re dancing our butts off. [laughs] It’s definitely an endurance show. [laughs] Yeah.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Surprise Farewell to Chicago cast

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

ASHLEE SIMPSON-WENTZ bid farewell to her CHICAGO co-stars at the weekend (07Feb10) by throwing them an impromptu party to mark the end of her stint in the Broadway musical.
The singer-turned-actress, who appeared as Roxie Hart in the New York production, hung up her dancing shoes earlier this month (Feb10) to make way for ex-Destiny’s Child star Michelle Williams.
And she made sure she departed the show on good terms – by treating her castmates to a special surprise bash at her rocker husband Pete Wentz’s Manhattan bar Angels & Kings on Sunday night (07Feb10).
News of the farewell party follows a string of reports alleging the 25 year old had been an unpopular member of the cast. Simpson-Wentz allegedly angered her stage colleagues at an after-party for her New York debut when she barricaded herself and her family in a makeshift VIP section.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Gets Ready for V-Day

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz discusses her family plan in the OK! on newsstands now, saying she’s ready for more kids.
“I love being a mother,” the singer/actress/Broadway star, 25, tells me during the Hershey’s Pieces Candies launch held at Hershey’s Times Square. She welcomes the changes Bronx, 1, has brought to her relationship with Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, 30, whom she wed in 2008.

“We’re together all the time,” Jessica’s lil’ sis says. “Bronx is definitely finding himself, and he’s getting his own personality, so hide-and-seek, and new little things. He does sign language, so that’s been fun.”
Staying spontaneous is something Ashlee strives to do, and Pete – who confessed to me in 2005 his celebrity crush was Ashlee although they only talked a few times –must consider himself lucky.

“Every Valentine’s Day is sweet,” she says. “Pete’s very creative, so he’s always coming up with something clever and surprising me. Hopefully I’ll surprise him this year.”
Pick up the OK! on newsstands now for more on Ashlee and Pete Wentz. The cover line is Brad Pitt/Jennifer Aniston/“I Still Love Jen But I Can’t Leave The Kids.” And, check out Hershey’s Pieces Candies, which are now available in flavors including Almond Joy (my favorite), York, Special Dark and the original Reese’s Pieces. They are amazing. Mmm.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz Planning Baby #2

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Ashlee Simpson and hubby Pete Wentz love being parents so much, they’re already planning for baby #2.

Pete admits that becoming a father changed him for the better and gushes about what a great mom Ashlee is. And since they both don’t have any big projects lined up right now, what better time to have a baby, right?

“We are very lucky and hope to have another child at some point,” said Pete.

“We also like doing what you have to do to have a baby! My child has taught me selflessness, patience and how to give this unexplained kind of love.

“I can’t explain this kind of love, but Ashlee — who is just an awesome mom — shares this feeling with me.”

Little Bronx is so cute, we’d love to see these two have another baby. A little Ashlee would be great! Keep your eyes peeled for a baby bump!

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz: Bronx Has ‘Helped Me Grow’

Friday, January 29th, 2010

With her run in Broadway’s Chicago coming to a close on Feb. 7th, singer-actress Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is getting ready to pack up her belongings and move from N.Y.C back to L.A.

But first, the new mom — son to Bronx Mowgli, 14 months — took some time to talk to Celebrity Baby Blog about her son’s love of forts, parenting with husband Pete Wentz and her work with Hershey’s candies!

How has the transition from living in L.A. to N.Y.C. been?
It’s been great! We’re just here for two more weeks, then we’re headed back home. But it’s been really cool. Doing Chicago has been great, and it’s been wonderful to go through it all with my husband and baby.

What’s it been like for your family with you working and Pete as a stay-at-home dad of sorts?
I think we have such a fine balance in our relationship because he’s working too, so we’ve just worked out our timing really well.

What’s your daily routine like?
We have Bronx on such a schedule, so it’s focused around him. I don’t leave for the show until 6 p.m., so I get ready and go there later, since it’s an 8 p.m. show. Bronx goes to bed an hour later, and I’m home all day, so that’s been really nice. Although we do eight shows a week! So Bronx comes to the theater on the weekends to visit.

How do you deal with that time apart?
He comes up and has lunch or dinner with me at the theater pretty often. He came to a rehearsal, and yelled out “Mama!” when I got onstage. It was really cute!

Do you have any help outside your family?
We do. But we’re definitely a tight-knit family, and Pete and I are very hands-on. Spending time with Bronx is the best thing in the whole world for us.

Do you feel like motherhood has changed you?
Oh absolutely. It’s the best thing of my life, it’s helped me grow. Same for Pete. I think that being a parent in general just changes you so much.

Any products, books or toys you can’t live without?
It’s changing all the time. Bronx is really into all sorts of books, building forts — he’s such a boy! It’s a lot of fun. And he’s definitely on the go, we’re always running around playing games like hide-and-go-seek.

Does Bronx listen to your music?
He’s definitely heard Fall Out Boy and my music, too, but we play everything for him. He gets to choose his own kind of music, but he doesn’t have a favorite yet.

Would you be supportive if he wanted to go into the music industry?
Yeah, definitely! It’s definitely not something I’d push on him — I want to let him be whatever he wants to be — but we’ll see.

Do you think your experiences growing up in the spotlight will help him down the road?
Yes I’m sure, although we don’t want to raise him in the spotlight. We try to keep our life as private as we can.

Does Bronx notice the paparazzi? How does your family deal?
I think he’s just starting to notice them. It’s more frustrating for Pete and me — Bronx doesn’t quite get it!

What’s next for you career-wise?
I plan to take two weeks off for sure, just to be home and enjoy some down time. And then after that I’m going to start writing again. I’m also looking at some films.

Will you miss performing in Chicago?
I’m excited to go home, and I’m definitely ready to go home! But 10 weeks here was fun, and being on Broadway was a dream.

Tell us about your work with Pieces candy!
I’m definitely a chocolate fan! I’m a Reese’s girl, I like the York Peppermint Patties, so these new bags are great to pick up on the go, because with me, I’m always on the go. But no candy for Bronx yet!

I also bring the candies backstage — it’s nice to have them at the theater because you can grab a quick snack in between numbers. We love it!

Sweet ‘Pieces’ of Ashlee

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

With two weeks left to go on her “Chicago” run, 2010 is all about new possibilities. “I’m going to take a few weeks to just take a deep breath, and enjoy being at home,” says Simpson-Wentz, “and then I’ll start writing again, getting back in the studio, and looking at scripts.” When asked if her new album will be of a similar style to her last, or have any influence from her Fall Out Boy husband, the singer replies, “I’m definitely in a new place in my life. Pete and I share music, but I’m going to keep doing my own thing.”
